Religious Education for Children
The Second Vatican council affirmed that Parents are the primary Catechists of their children. (Gaudium et Spes) For the faith of baptism to unfold, it is important that our faith is nurtured so that it stays alive and grows. St. Clement Church is delighted to partner with you and your child on this journey of faith!
Children not attending Catholic school should be attending classes within a Faith Formation program. Weekly religious education classes are offered on Sunday mornings for children in Grades K through 7. Spanish Speaking classes are also available. Families are also expected to participate in family centered activities and penitential services throughout the year; and must be committed to regular attendance at Sunday Mass.
Grades K through Seventh
Classes are offered Sunday mornings from 9:00 -10:15 a.m., prior to our 10:30 a.m. Mass in the Education Center. Spanish Speaking classes are also available and held on Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:15 p.m.
Sacramental Preparation
Completion of the Sacraments of Initiation (Confirmation and First Holy Communion) and Reconciliation (Penance) are free-standing and separate from the regular parish faith formation programs. Our First Communion preparation is a two year program for children ages 7 or older. Registrations are Monday -Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm in the Parish Office. Please bring child’s Birth Certificate and Baptism Certificate.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a Montessori-based approach to the religious formation of children, rooted in Sacred Scripture, Liturgy, and respect for the child’s rich relationship with God.
